5 Reasons to Travel with Friends
I always read amazing posts on why you should travel solo and have done a ton of traveling with my SO (both of which I highly recommend and am not arguing against in any way). I feel like I read even less about traveling with friends, but I think it’s an amazing opportunity to connect and create memories. Still need a reason to travel with friends? Check out my top 5 now:
Connection
OK you’re already friends……but life has a way of, um, getting in the way. Relationships, children, careers, travel….just a few reasons you might not be as tight as you used to be. Traveling with your friends will help to rebuild and strengthen those connections! It’s so refreshing to be able to reconnect, especially if you’re typically unable to (or just text about making plans all the time and never actually make those plans….*guilty*).

I might be the worst at making actual plans but when I do it’s epic!
Money
Here’s a special side effect of traveling with your friends: you’ll save some money! Three or four pals sharing a hotel room will cost less than if it’s you solo and splitting up Ubers, drinks and meals can make a huge difference. Those extra funds can go towards more trip experiences (or another trip all together)!

one of those “let’s order one of everything & a pitcher of sangria” type of nights
Power in Numbers
A group of women have advantages when it comes to confidence that a solo female traveler might not have. When I travel with my squad I don’t really think twice about some situations that would have me looking over my shoulder (or avoiding entirely) if I were solo. In addition to safety in numbers, opinions in numbers are a benefit! Hear me out: if one person is dominating a group or deciding for everyone it can feel less than amazing. When you have a group you also have a group of opinions, personalities and likes/dislikes. This might seem like a breeding ground for conflict but I know you’re grown ass women so it is actually amazing! You might find yourself doing an activity or eating a type of cuisine that wasn’t on your list but will definitely be a cherished memory!

I normally wouldn’t rock a flower crown for a night out but I was convinced by these lovely gals
Getting There is Half the Fun
I found that, when traveling with friends, it feels like the minute we link up (to start our travels) our vacation has begun! Getting there is part of the adventure and part of the fun, even if things go awry. I know that when I travel with my SO we both can feel like traveling to our destination is just work we have to complete in order to get to the actual vacation. Maybe it’s how infrequently I see my friends (working on changing this!) but the trip to/from our destination is part of the overall experience and a blast!
Pictures & Packing
Do you love taking pictures as much as I do? When you’re with the gang you can get an assist for a perfect “selfie” (I’ll never tell) and can share ideas on posing, lighting & more. Sometimes your girls just get it.
As far as packing goes, there’s a very real possibility you will forget something. Oh, you never forget things? Congrats, I’m not that skilled and always leave something (or ten somethings) behind. The chances are, however, that someone in your group has what you left behind. Hair straightener? Sure! Dry shampoo? We’ve got three types! Floss? Yup. This might seem silly but it’s almost like the universe rewards you for spending time with your friends by having everything line up like this.

Your girls always have your back for a ferris wheel photo shoot
There probably are a thousand additional reasons to take a trip with your friends but these were my top five. Convinced yet? If you need some info on what essentials to bring for a girls getaway check out my post here. Interested in reading more about the above mentioned girls getaway? This post has all the info on our 3 Nights in Montreal.
Have you recently taken a trip with your friends? I’d love to hear about it!

August 24, 2019 at 5:31 pmI have two girlfriends that I try to travel with every other year. It’s always a great time! Splitting the cost for the hotel helps a lot, and they are definitely more about helping me take photos good for instagram than my husband is, haha! We like to do Disney a lot and they’ll get into meeting the princesses and all that too 🙂

August 24, 2019 at 7:39 pmThat sounds incredible! And I totally understand the squad’s perspective on good photos – my husband is a champ for always trying but sometimes your girls just get it more!

August 25, 2019 at 10:03 amI love traveling with “the girls”. We always manage to go to good places, dance, drink ( just a little), and shop. The ride to and from is always a great way to catch up on our lives. Highly recommend it.

August 26, 2019 at 1:16 amWe have our first holiday with another couple in a few weeks and I can’t wait! We weren’t very sure if we should travel with another couple or not, but in the end we decided it would be more fun with 2 more people (and cheaper).

August 26, 2019 at 1:29 pmI both travel solo and with friends. I always say that it just depends on the group. Some friends can be a drag to travel with. However if the group is generally easy-going, then I’m down.

August 29, 2019 at 5:24 pmI wish me and my friends could do this sometime soon. It has been a while since we got together. Life has been so busy and meeting up with them (whose lives are also very busy) is a big obstacle. If we do get to have a chance, I am sure it will be a fun-filled memorable experience. How nice it would be to recall those good times we had in high school and college!

August 30, 2019 at 8:08 amTraveling with friends sounds like so much fun and definitely something I wish I had got around to doing before having kids. Its definitely something I want to do in the future. I had never really thought about the money aspect though so that’s a great point!

August 30, 2019 at 7:33 pmI totally agree with you. When you go with friends, the trip to the destination is definitely half the fun. It’s a definite adventure all the time when you go with friends. I have so many stories with one time me and this group of friends did . . . They are the best.
