Birthdays & Bucket Lists

I’ve always kind of gone back & forth on my personal feelings about bucket lists…..I mean, the world is filled with awesome experiences so I never really saw the point in listing out a few and saying “before I die I will do these things”.  Also I need to be very clear that I don’t much care for the name.  But I’m starting to come around, I think.  Annette at Bucket List Journey makes a pretty convincing pitch here.

So I’m going to start small.  Putting together a little list of experience won’t be exclusionary to any unnamed experiences, however it will be more like a vision board of badass places that I need to get to.  I will be referring to this as a B list going forward, more birthday list than bucket list (for the time being).

I just wrote down the top five that came to mind, however this is far from a complete list and these won’t be the only experiences that I open myself up to in the coming years.  I’d love to hear about your B list, if you have one!

The Baby Got Balance B List

Cage Diving with Great White Sharks in South Africa

If you know me at all I won’t have to explain this one, but if you’re unfamiliar just know that sharks are the coolest IMO.  My husband has already declared that if he’s in country with me he will be waiting on the boat.

Surfing in Indonesia

I used to surf but haven’t in a while…however if I’m in Indonesia I’m going to make sure I do at least once!  Note:  I will probably get wrecked but I’ll make sure I get it on camera.

Road Trip through Italy

Grabbing that extra insurance and cruising around!  I know for a fact that Palazzo Margherita will be a stop (I can’t get enough of the Coppola Properties – more to come on this soon).

Visiting an Elephant Sanctuary

Because a legit sanctuary is way better than some shitty animal tourism trap.  It’s a dream of mine to spend a day at a sanctuary (hopefully helping but I’ll take whatever I can get)!

Sunrise at Tikal

I’ve been fortunate to check out the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich and Caracol in Belize and but haven’t quite made my way into Guatemala to Tikal…yet.  You can actually start your hike through the park, in the dark, to the top of the main structure to catch the sunrise.  Hoping to check this one off soon…..

Made it to the top of Xunantunich in Belize!

These are my top five currently, however there are plenty more *wink wink* that I don’t the need to list out right now.  I might consider putting together a complete B list of 50-100 or so in the future but for now this is it.

What’s on your B list?  I’d love to hear about it and be inspired, make sure to let me know in the comments!

I love bucket lists. I also love what you said at the beginning, as I’m just starting my 30s!

WOW, these are some mind-blowing goals of yours! My bucket list includes going to the theme park here in Melbourne, and being able to say I have left the country as least ONCE ? I hope you get to do all these awesome things. A road trip through Italy sounds amazing!

Those some like some good foundation items for your list! If you’re anything like me after you do your first trip out of the country you’ll be hooked 🙂

What a fun and adventurous bucket list you have started! I could never go cage diving with sharks but I would definitely join you for the Elephant Sanctuary!

My husband is of the same mindset – he has put in his veto for joining me in a shark cage 🙂

Everyone has told me the 30s are the best, but I’m still on the fence about that (early 30s here lol). I feel like my 20s were more fun and better overall, but we will see! I LOVE seeing other people’s bucket lists and it’s also reassuring to read you found your 30s to be great, here’s to many more bucket list completed goals and to a very happy birthday! 🙂

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I hear you on the 20’s being more fun but for me it’s just been an evolution to a different kind of fun & experience. Wishing you all the best in your 30’s, I’m sure they’ll turn out to be just as wonderful 🙂

I love your list!! I created a 30 in my 30’s list when I turned 30 and it’s been fun to accomplish goals and achieve some dreams!

Swimming with sharks would be cool! Italy is at the top of my bucket list – I hope I can make a trip there soon.

This is a wonderful list you had and happy birthday to you! I guess I need to be more adventurous now, but maybe only the sharks I will be waiting on the boat like your husband too lol. I don’t think I have the courage even going to the sea where there will be sharks.

Thanks, Lala! I know that sharks aren’t for everyone (including my husband lol) but it’s pretty high on my list. That’s the beauty of a bucket list, though – you can prioritize the experiences that are most important to you!
